How do you know if your system isn't working?
Here are some signs:
- None or little hot water produced either on sunny days by the solar system or on cloudy days by the backup heater; and water that is either too hot or too cold .
- Any significant drop or rise in pressure indicated by the pressure gauge; Any leaks from pipe work or collector or steam emitted from the system.
- Increased circulating pump noise, the running of the pump during the night or the constant running of the pump:
- significant loss of hot water during the night (some minor standby heat loss is expected)

The maintenance requirements for solar water heating system vary depending on the system configuration. In general, solar thermal systems have few moving parts and the maintenance requirements are fairly simple.
we recommend that solar water heating systems are serviced at least every 4 years, in pressurized systems the Antifreeze properties of the heat transfer fluid can begin to break down after this time leading to the possibility of severe Frost damage to collectors and pipework
